Evocative… Sophisticated… Enduring…

This was our brief to design agency, Barlow Doherty.

The eel, found in rivers throughout New Zealand, was once
a staple of Maori diet but is now considered a delicacy.
Our Blind River eel forms a ‘koru’ shape, a popular design
in Maori art.

The koru is based on the shape of an unfurling fern frond and symbolises creation. Its circular shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, and its inward coil suggests a return to the point of origin.

Our ‘koru’ eel symbolises the way in which life both changes and stays the same – a concept borne out through a vineyard which faces different challenges with each vintage underpinned by the continual cycle of the four seasons.
